BJJ & Luta Livre in MMA: UFC fighter Milton Vieira
BJJ Hacks put a nice video on my friend Milton Vieira, great guy and amazing fighter!
“10-year MMA veteran Milton ‘Miltinho’ Vieira is about to make his UFC debut, fighting on UFC 147 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. A 2nd degree black belt in jiu-jitsu under Brazilian Top Team co-founder Murilo Bustamante, Miltinho studied under Mestre Jefferson (JOP) is also a black belt in the no-gi submission grappling style of luta livre and widely considered the king of the anaconda choke.”
“Once, luta livre was considered a rival to jiu-jitsu and there were many high-profile clashes between practitioners of the two arts. But as time passed the tensions faded, and Milton was one of the many luta livre stylists who joined BTT in the early 2000s.”
In this video Miltinho talks about:
– His training background, explaining how he developed his unique style by cross-training both BJJ and lute livre at an early age
– Developing his trademark anaconda choke, a technique for which he says he has 32 variations
– His upcoming UFC debut, a dream he has been working toward for many years.
